America is a very young country compared to many others in Europe and other parts of the world. Because of this, many aspects of America are in some way connected to the culture of others. Throughout the years, the United States have been gaining their own culture, but there are hints of other cultures in, for example, American architecture since the very first buildings were built in the styles of those who ruled over the first colonies. Even though many countries contributed to the architecture of America, there are two that really stand out in making a big impact: the English and the Spanish. One of the earliest styles that appeared in young America that was also very popular in England was the Gregorian Style and the Palladian architecture and was seen mostly in Williamsburg, Virginia. Churches were also similar because they were built that the same type of material as they were in England, such as bricks and they both had a large narrow roof that pointed at the top. Many of the buildings that were influenced by the European style are still in tact today in many places along New England, such as in Boston and Plymouth. The Spanish had held a lot of American territory closer to the south and Mexico, which is why they also had greatly influenced the architecture of America. Back when the Spanish had just conquered their part of America, they had combined their architecture that that of the native Indians and started the mixing of architectural styles. There is much more that the English and Spanish have contributed to the American culture but one of the most noticeable that can be seen everyday includes architecture.
